Frequently asked questions
Which browser does Blindfold work with?
Safari on iPhone and iPad is where the full protection runs, using Apple's built-in Content Blocker and Safari Web Extension systems: filter lists, cookie-consent handling, and blocker-detection defense are all Safari-specific. If you turn on Blindfold Everywhere, on-device DNS filtering also blocks ads and trackers system-wide, including in Chrome and other apps, though only at the DNS level.
What is Blindfold Everywhere?
It extends blocking beyond Safari to every app. It is temporarily switched off while it moves from DNS filtering to Apple's URL Filter API, which is the sanctioned way to do this on iOS. It returns in a later update at no extra cost, and everything else in the app works today.
Does Blindfold handle cookie consent pop-ups?
Yes. When a supported pop-up appears, Blindfold answers it for you: using the site's own consent tools when it recognizes them, so the rejection is actually recorded, and hiding the pop-up outright when it doesn't. You can turn this off in Settings.
Can Blindfold hide promoted posts in apps like Reddit or YouTube?
In Safari, yes. Blindfold can hide promoted and sponsored posts in the Reddit and YouTube feeds you view in Safari. It can't reach into their native iOS apps, since Safari extensions only run in Safari.
How do I turn it on?
Install the app, open it, and follow the short setup. Then enable Blindfold's blockers in Settings, Apps, Safari, Extensions. To see live stats and defend against blocker detection, allow the Blindfold helper on All Websites.
Does my browsing data leave my iPhone?
No. Blocking and the on-device AI run entirely on your device. Blindfold has no account and no server that can see what you browse.
What does the on-device AI actually do?
After a page finishes loading, Apple's on-device model reviews elements that look like ads and writes precise hiding rules. It never runs while you browse and nothing is uploaded. Every rule it creates is listed in the app, and you can delete any of them.
How much does Blindfold cost?
It's $3.99 per month, $19.99 per year with 1 month free, or $69.99 once for lifetime access. All three include every feature and Apple Family Sharing.
What's the difference between the monthly, yearly, and lifetime options?
The same app and the same features. Monthly is billed each month. Yearly is billed each year and starts with a free trial. Lifetime is a single payment with no subscription.
Can I share it with my family?
Yes. Both the yearly subscription and the lifetime purchase support Apple Family Sharing, so your household is covered by one purchase.
Will it break the sites I use?
Blocking is careful and always reversible. If a site misbehaves, allowlist it in a tap or remove the specific rule. Let us know the URL and we'll tune the lists.
How are the filter lists kept up to date?
They refresh over the air, daily, so you get new rules without waiting for an App Store update.
Do you sell my data or allow 'acceptable ads'?
Never. Blindfold has no trackers, no ads, and no data business. You pay for the app, and that is the entire model.
What does Blindfold require?
iPhone or iPad running iOS 26 or later. Blindfold uses features that only exist in iOS 26, so it will not install on earlier versions.
